National initiatives

Our national endeavours reach beyond our Bedfordshire borders and look alleviate discrimination and marginalisation.

BVS initiated, led and continue to work on rooting out Anti-Caste discrimination in the UK. Unfortunately this discrimination is very real and BVS do all they can combating caste discrimination.

Anti-Caste Discrimination Alliance

The Anti-Caste Discrimination Alliance (ACDA) is an umbrella body working to eliminate Caste Discrimination. They work by introducing a degree of coordination between like-minded groups and organisations and where necessary, providing strategic direction. The Bhagwan Valmik Mandir representing the Valmiki Community of Bedford, as victims of caste-based discrimination are invested in working with the ACDA to eliminate caste based discrimination.

Kanshi TV

Kanshi TV is a 24-hour rolling television and web channel working to promote the voices of faiths groups globally. The Bhagwan Valmik mandir invests in and works with Kanshi TV by broadcasting a weekly one-hour programme, promoting the philosophy of Guru Valmik Ji and discussing community concerns.

The West Highland Way Charity Walk

In 2019 volunteers from the Bhagwan Valmiki Community walked the West Highland Way, which spans 100 miles from Glasgow to Fort William. The walk raised money for three local charities; SMART Prebend; Open Door Bedford; and YMCA Bedford. The trail was successfully walked, raising £500 for each charity and was commended local MP Mohammed Yasin and recognised by local communities. We are looking to continue such events on an annual basis, working to raise money for local charities and vulnerable communities.
